Do you feel recognised, affirmed and celebrated for your participation and/or ministry within the Methodist Church?14 (52%) people said they felt
recognised, affirmed
and celebrated, whilst 10 (37%) didn’t.
There
were some positive expressions in response to
this, some said their gifts were appreciated, and that support by
others had
been very good.
Others
were able to say their ministry was but their
sexuality was often not recognised as part of that.
Some felt they were never affirmed for the sexuality that
they
had. Some felt
their involvement was
allowed reluctantly, and others that they were excluded from some
things. Some said
that the church does not create an
environment where ‘coming out’ is easy, and there
was very little support
available.
There
was one who felt that they were unable to
discuss it in preaching and one person said they had moved to a
Metropolitan
Community Church.
